Funeral service for men who were killed in fatal deputy shootings in North-OMAHA

Omaha, Neb. (Wowt) – Services were held by a deputy for the man this week, just like several law enforcement authorities examine what happened.

“We went and watched the body and then we brought it to the mosque to pray on him,” said Abdi Ibrahim, uncle of Janidi Ibrahim. “Now we bring him to Raymond to bury him.”

On Saturday, friends and family in the Islamic center of Omaha joined funeral services.

The 19 -year -old was shot by Douglas County Sheriffs early Thursday. A Special Operations Group carried out a firearm examination near 48 and Pratt.

DCSO says when a representative approached an SUV, several people are scattered by the scene inside and outside.

Janidi Ibrahim stayed in the driver's seat, where he was hit by shots. The deputy provided help at the crime scene, but Janidi later died in the hospital.

“Very, very sad day, because today is his last day and today the day we are buried,” said Abdi. “The family won't see him again. So it's a very sad moment for the family.”

The sheriff's office said that there were two weapons in the vehicle and that the incident was caught by body cameras. Film material Abdi Ibrahim says the family would like to see.

“We currently have no information, but we want to see the video,” said Abdi. “Douglas County Sheriff, they have to show us and we will fight for showing us the video, no matter what we need, we will fight because we need justice, life has been taken. It is very sad.”

DCSO said to First Alert 6 Thursday, there are no indication of Ibrahim. An examination of what led to the shootout is underway by DCSO, NSP and Omaha Police.

Sheriff Aaron Hanson said to First Alert 6 that a Body -Jury examination is not released before the Grand Jury examination.

After completing the examination and the file, the district attorney is presented for legal review, shots can still be shared and a more comprehensive overview of the incident is shared with the public.

Some others who ran from the scene are not taken into account. But an 18-year-old Samuel Guy was later arrested in connection with the shootout.

Guy was booked by a forbidden youthful perpetrator due to illegal possession of a firearm. DCSO said he was previously owned by one of the firearms recovered by the SUV at the crime scene.

The investigators do not believe that the type of people was at the scene. The public is asked to help identify people who were on site on Thursday morning.
