Boy, 9, shot the 7-year-old neighbor dead as she drove snowmobile

On March 6, 1989, it was a snow day from the school for children in East Pennsylvania.

7-year-old Jessica Carr spent the morning in the house of Richard and Trudy Ratti in Kresgeville, together with her six children and other children in the neighborhood, including the neighbors of Rattis, Cameron Kocher.

At around 1 p.m., the fourth grader grabbed his father's key to the gun cabinet, which was hidden in the base of a lamp, and got a hunting rifle that was equipped with a scope.

Cameron, who was familiar with weapons because he had chased with his father that the rifle loaded, went to a bedroom window on the second floor and closed and removed the screen. Then he looked through the scope of his father's rifle and shot Jessica, who drove as a passenger on a snowmobile in a nearby field. The ball struck her back and pierced her spine and the right lungs, reported the Associated Press.

The boy then cleaned the rifle before returning it to the cabinet according to AP.

The rattis feared that a sniper in the neighborhood was loose and asked him to return to her house. The boy committed.

There he played Nintendo and told those who cried about Jessica's body: “If they don't think about it, they won't feel bad,” said Brian Ratti later according to AP.

Cameron did not advocate a number of criminal murder murder in 1992, but was later convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of offenses as part of a plea contract, the AP reported.

In an explanation, Jessica's mother Donna Tietz said that she reluctantly agreed to the Plea Deal. “Involuntary homicide means that it is an accident,” she said, according to AP. “It was not an accident.”
