'Irish Emmerdale' soap star couple, which was plagued by the Affair scandal | Celebrity messages | Showbiz & TV

The Irish soap opera of the Riordans, which was first broadcast in 1965, inspired ITV's long -time soap Emmerdale. It was broadcast on RTé (radio and television of Ireland) for over a decade and followed middle -aged parents, Tom (played by John Cowley) and Mary Riordan (Moira Deady).

Her eldest son Benjy (Tom Hickey), son Michael (Chris O'Neill) and daughter Jude (Rebecca Wilkinson), who left agriculture for other careers. According to reports, the scandal started with the Irish actor and prominent playwright Louis D'Alton, who was married to actress Ann Mulhall.

However, her marriage was clouded by Louis, who had an affair with the actress and mutation.

In order to return to her alienated husband, Ann replied by entering her own affair with Cowley, who finally ended her relationship with Louis.

While he continued to work in the theater until his death in 1951, Ann married the actor of the Riordaner in 1953.

Together she won in the industry after playing both in the Riordans, while Cowley headed the line -up as Tom and portrayed Ann Minnie Brennan.

The couple greeted a son together, Ultan Cowley and remained married until Ann's death in 1983.

After the beloved Irish soap ended in 1979, Cowley returned to the stage and continued to work until his death in 1998.
