Two high school students killed in the crash of Morgan County

Two students from Pittsfield High School were killed on May 24th in an accident with two vehicles in Morgan County.

The students were identified by Todd Fox by Pikeland Schools as Senior Jesse Davidsmeyer and Junior Joel Noble.

The deaths were confirmed in a statement by Morgan County, Marcy Patterson.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on May 24th at the intersection of the US Highway 67 and the Woodson Winchester Road in Woodson.

Woodson is eight miles south of Jacksonville.

“As a school and community, we are overwhelmed in absolute shock and grief,” Fox wrote on Facebook.

The district will provide advice and additional resources for Pikeland students and employees as well as community members, Fox added.

A high school diploma planned for Sunday was canceled. A school and joint prayer night was planned on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on the high school football field.

On February 11th, a newcomer to Pittsfield High School, Reese Ramsey, was killed in an accident with two vehicles at Illinois 106. Another person was killed in the crash. Two students were injured.

Ramsey and the other two students, Lincoln McCartney and Deeghan Allen, were members of the girls' basketball team from Pittsfield.

According to a state police in Illinois, two occupants were flown to regional hospitals with injuries, while two other occupants were brought to regional hospitals with injuries on Saturday.

The US 67 was closed for all traffic for about six hours, said the ISP report.
