“By far the worst moment of my life;” Scott McLaughlin falls from Indianapolis 500 before it even begins

“I really have no idea what happened,” McLaughlin said to Fox. “Only very upset about my team, they built a fantastic car again.”

Then he said it was the worst moment of his life.

“The worst moment of my life. I know that it is probably dramatic, everyone – whatever, but I put so much in this race, and it just didn't see the green flag.”

The former Australian Supercars driver is in his fifth full-time season in the IndyCar series. He achieved seven victories over 72 races and was a favorite to win the race from the fourth row. McLaughlin had the chance to fight Pole, but crashed violently in practice before the last qualification round.

That was the beginning of a bad day for Team Penske. All three cars had qualified in the top 12 and had the chance to drive the bar. But McLaughlin never attempted because of the crash and willpower and Josef Newgarden's cars, because of a technical violation, the race in the last row was excluded. The violation led to layoffs of three Team Penske employees, including long -time executive Tim Cindric.

When McLaughlin crashed, Scott Dixon had a brake fire on his car, which finally seemed to be dispersed. The six-time Indycar champion is looking for his second Indianapolis 500 victory.

After the race in front of McLaughlin's crash was delayed by rain, the Indycar series began to count rounds before the race officially grew green. After doing this, Jack Harvey hit Marco Andretti when she went in curve 1 and Andrettis races ended in the first corner when he hit the wall.
