Ukraine was world news

We have just spoken to a Ukrainian deputy who lives in Kyiv and was looking for protection overnight while Russia's attack.

As we have already reported, Donald Trump's envoys to Ukraine sent this rush as “shameful” and called for a “ceasefire now” (see 17.32).

Kira Rudik answers these comments and told us that the USA “switches from the statements to actions”.

“Ukraine did everything through the book whatever President Trump wanted or asked from us, we have completed,” she told our moderator Barbara Serra.

“We signed the very rare minerals deal, we had agreed to a ceasefire – when there was an offer to go to Turkey for a negotiation, President Zelenskyy did it.”

Kyiv did “everything” to get a ceasefire that “obviously” does not happen, she said.

“So we hope that President Trump, who promised peace through strength, will stop Russia and to hope and play with the illusion that Russia is ready,” she added.

“Offer Ukraine and at the same time more military support for Ukraine [pressure] Russia with more sanctions in relation to the economy.

“And Europe must stand by the United States.”
