La Porte Man and grandson found dead after a small plane crash in Chambers County

Chambers County – A grandfather and his young grandchildren were found dead on Sunday morning after his little plane crashed in a forest area near Hankamer, Texas.

The Chamber County's office says that the small plane, the commander with red and white low-wing, was last followed on Saturday afternoon shortly before 5 p.m. when data showed a sudden waste of height.

The two on board were identified as Larry Motte by La Porte and his grandson, who was from Austin.

The search team was looking for the lack of a plane late Saturday evening after the authorities received a report on a possible accident near the FM 1724 south of Interstate 10.

The efforts were teams of the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Texas Game Warders, Texas Department of Public Safety and the US Coast Guard. Drones, helicopters and floor crews were used to search the night.

The wreck was found on Sunday morning in a remote forest area near the last known place of the aircraft. Both Larry Motte and his grandson were found dead at the scene.

Federal civil servants of the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are now investigating the cause of the crash.

The family asks for privacy and prayers in this difficult time.
