This idea enables the players to make referees calling fouls so that they get more free throws. It is an interesting tactic and a very effective to help a team win games.

Players like Shai Gilgeous-Aalexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jalen Brunson from the New York Knicks and James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers fell directly into them. With Gilgeous-Alexander it was a consistent topic all year round, in which social media completely chased the idea into the air.

Gilgeous-Alexander was ridiculed even during the defeat of his team against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Minnesota fans sang the “free throw dealer” towards the Liga MVP.

But this made other players in the league to burden the situation. During the final of the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia 76ers Star Guard Jared McCain offered some strong thoughts on this topic.

“Foul bait is only smart. Even if I talk to Joel Embbiid about it, he believes that it only plays smartly. Just know how to manipulate the game in your own way. You have to call it if it is a foul, it's a foul.”

McCain has only been in the NBA for a season, but it is doing a good point. It is a skill that some players have mastered and it has led to their teams on the pitch are much more successful.
