Trump prevents journalists who cover Pentagon

From Enyichukwu Enemanna

In order to avoid leaks from classified information, the United States has introduced new orders in which reporters cover the Pentagon to have official escorts in most parts of the building to move without being monitored, as well as practice in the past.

This happens when the Press Corps covers the US military that the new rules are a “direct attack on freedom of the press”.

In an explanation, the Pentagon Press Association said a membership organization that represents the interests of journalists: “The decision is said to have been based on concerns regarding operational security. However, the Pentagon Press Corps had had access to untrained, not classified rooms in Pentagon attackers and democratic administration, including the attacks of dod lines, without the attacks of the attacks of September.

In what analysts say, the youngest in a number of US presidents, Donald Trump's administrative restrictions for the press, the Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth on Friday took the measures that take effect immediately. It prohibits accredited reporters from most headquarters of the Department of Defense in Arlington, Virginia, unless they have an official approval and an escort.

“While the department is still committed, the department is equally obliged to protect CSNI (classified intelligence) and sensitive information – the non -authorized disclosure whose lives of the US service members could endanger,” said Hegseth in a memorandum.

He described the protection of the classified national intelligence information and operational security as “unshakable imperative for the department”.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, who answered when asked for comments, said: “These updated measures are a necessary step to protect confidential information and protect our US service members from avoidable risks.”

Since January, when Trump was inaugurated for a second term, the Pentagon has initiated an investigation into leaks that led to three officers being put into suspending.

The new order also requires so -called Legacy media organizations, including the New York Times, Washington Post, the CNN and the NBC News, as a new rotation system. It brings other media, especially those who are considered friendly for the Republican government, such as the New York Post, Breitbart, The Daily Caller and One America News Network.

According to the Trump administration, the move to other media should enable the opportunity to report resident members of the Press Corps.

The White House says that Trump will not tolerate any leaks for the media and that federal employees who do so should be held accountable.

The order of the Minister of Defense also obliges the members of the Pentagon Press Corps to recognize responsibility for the protection of national secret services and sensitive information, and explains that they are issued with new registration information that they identify more than members of the press.

“We also expect an upcoming announcement of additional security measures and an improved examination for issuing (login information),” says the memo.
