A voice of credibility and courage in Edo's war against crimes – Nigerian observer

By Rev. David Ugolor

In a country in which uncertainty remains one of the most urgent challenges, a clear and courageous leadership at the state level has become more important than ever. In the state of Edo, a voice appeared not only for his boldness, but because of its clarity, consistency and credibility. This voice is Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, the Commissioner for Information and Communication.

At a press conference in Benin City, Commissioner Ohonbamu recently addressed the problem of cultism and the kidnapping of frontal, which offered both a clear warning and a way forward. His comments left no doubt about the government's commitment to restore security and public trust.

“Every landlord whose building is discovered as a cultist will face the anger of the law,” said Ohonbamu.
“Cult -related activities are addressed aggressively, with the perpetrator and their enablers being exposed to the full weight of the law.”

This is not an empty rhetoric. It reflects a government that is actively working to eliminate crime from the base. The decision to tear down buildings that are used as a criminal hiding place triggered discussion, but Ohonbamu made it clear that no such measures are carried out without credible evidence or direct confession.

His advice to the landlords is simple, but critical: monitor your tenants. The war against the crime must be a collective effort – and those who face the criminal activities in their real estate are held accountable.

Beyond the landlord, Ohonbamu sent a powerful news to the parents:

“Parents who ignore this warning or do not correct the criminal behavior of their children would be seen as complications for crime.”

Such statements underline the holistic approach that the government of Edo State pursues: not only the crime, but also question the cultural silence and neglect that allow it to grow.

This is the type of leadership that bridges activism and governance and brings strong moral values and effective public order together. Hon. Ohonbamu, a long -respected voice for justice and human rights, has not given up his government principles. Rather, he reinforced her.

It is also a moment to praise the governor Monday Okpebholo for the strategic and future -oriented decision to appoint him as information commissioner. In Ohonbamu, the governor not only chosen a communicator, but also for a truth seller-a man who is deeply rooted in the fights of the people and is not afraid to speak with both urgency and compassion.

Since Edo State increases his efforts to combat cultism, ritual murders, illegal firearms and shepherd attacks, a constant, trustworthy voice like Ohonbamu is at the forefront of invaluable value. His role is not only to inform, but to inspire collective responsibility and to rebuild the public's trust.

In times like these when the citizens are looking for the certainty that their leaders not only listen, but also actors -the entertainment in Ohonbamu has become a voice that we can believe in.
