Carmelo Anthony dissolves the disappearance of “Playoff Jimmy” after Steph Curry's injury: “You don't play …”

Jimmy Butler failed to wear the Golden State Warriors in the second round, and Carmelo Anthony explains the reason.

The NBA playoffs of the Golden State Warriors 2025 ended in the second round through the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although the warriors were the lower seeds, fans expected a better result than a 4-1 defeat against the franchise.

A big surprise was the lack of aggressive basketball by superstar Jimmy Butler in Stephen Curry's absence. The 4x NBA champion played in just 13 minutes when he missed the games 2 to 5 due to a thigh injury.

Carmelo Anthony about Jimmy Butler's failure without Stephen Curry

For what it is worth, the warriors may not even have made it into the playoffs if there were no blockbuster -Butler trade.

The organization went after trading 23-8, but the playoff time, butler never looked good. Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony announced his opinion in the last episode of the 7 p.m. in the Brooklyn podcast.

“When you come to the team for the first time, you have this excitement and adrenaline, and like everyone is excited and it just starts.

“But if the S___ goes down and starts when the house is committed and we now have to do this playoff run, the excitement is there, the adrenaline is there, but now you don't know how Steph Curry works at this level,” said Melo.

He added: “The more Steph Curry dug into the dug, and they do not have the experience that Steph in the deeper into the estate in and what happens.”

In simple terms, Anthony accuses the early exit into the strategy of the Warriors, which is tailored to Curry during the playoffs.

Butler failed in a system that was made for curry

Head coach Steve Kerr and Steph Curry helped the Warriors to win four NBA championships. Obviously you have a system that has worked in the past.

But what happens when the core of this system is violated? Well, what happened to Butler is the answer.

“The period was short, I would say. I will give you that. You have taken a damn good step. You tried it. We would probably still talk about you if Steph is not hurt,” Anthony continued.

Melo further explained: “At the peak of what he can do, we have seen his possibilities, his talents, his will to win. But if you turn this into a system that is a dynasty, and you have the way you play, and no matter what happens, you have to find your way.

“And that's not what you do. You don't shoot three. You don't play that way. Now this level of comfort begins to change.”

In four games without a curry, Butler had only one over 30 point game. He could not hurt the 20-point mark in the rest of them.

It was obvious that Butler had to deal with the warriors' crime because he also tried fewer than 15 field goals in three out of four defeats in the second round.
