Viral video shows Officer Body-Slam 17-year-old girl during her arrest in San Bernardino

San Bernardino, California (KABC) – A viral video shows how a police officer from San Bernardino complains of a 17-year-old student, partly captivated with handcuffs, and sends the girl to the sidewalk with her face.

The teenager in the center of the incident, Erin, spoke at her side at a press conference with family and community at a press conference.

“I only have great pain. I am everywhere – my head, my whole body. I am not the same person I was,” said Erin at the press conference.

On May 21, around 2 p.m., the San Bernardino police reacted to a grocery store in the 500 Block of the West 2nd Street to look at and fight a call for someone. When the officials arrived, they took the 17-year-old in custody.

The video shows an officer who holds the teenager before hits her to the ground.

Erin and her family say that she and her friends do nothing wrong when another group of teenagers did not provoke them in the shop. They say the police targeted Erin and treated her as if she had done something wrong.

Erin says she was first hit with her face. She has a cut on the chin and a large scratch along the side of her face.

“At the time of the physical encounter, the officer tried to put the woman in handcuffs. The official could only put one of her hands in cuffs when she started to actively pull and try to go from the officer when a takedown maneuver was used,” said the police department of San Bernardino in a declaration published on social media.

“The San Bernardino police authority is committed to impartial and accountable police work. The application of violence is applied due to behavior, not to age, gender or race,” continued the explanation.

The family of Erin demands justice and asks the Attorney General Rob Bonta to lead an independent investigation of the incident.

“I just want justice for my baby. She didn't do anything. The fact that I had to drive two hours – they let them bleed out for three in the hospital before sewing them on,” said Erin's mother Tanya Brownridge. “They gave us three different stories – one for me, one for my mother and one for my sister. I just want justice, that's it.”
