Ted Bundys DNA, which is to be used in cold cases

Miami – In Florida, a bottle of Ted Bundy's blood was found, and the investigators will use the newly discovered evidence to try to solve cases that became cold decades ago.
Before he was executed in 1989, Bundy confessed more than 30 murders and was suspected by many. A complete DNA profile could not be developed for the serial killer when the blood was found. The full profile will be uploaded to the FBI's national database on Friday in order to give the authorities important evidence in order to link Bundy with long -term crimes.
The bottles were discovered after the authorities in Florida received a call from a detective who had worked on a cold case in Tacoma, Washington. The blood was recorded in 1978 when Bundy was arrested in Columbia County, Florida when a 12-year-old girl died, reported the news tribune in Tacoma.
Despite the command of destroying a large part of the biological evidence in the case of Florida, the vials were still in the file, said David Coffman, head of forensic services in the Tallahasee Crime Lab of the law enforcement agency in Florida.
“We were really surprised,” he said.
Coffman warned that it will be a challenge to find full DNA samples from such a long time ago, which makes a match unlikely. But if there is a match, the authorities know immediately.
The Tacoma Detective examined the disappearance of Ann Marie Burr from 1961, a 6-year-old who disappeared from her house in the middle of the night. Bundy belongs to several possible suspects.
The Tacoma detective said they had letters that Bundy had sent, which could contain his DNA on the stamps or the envelope, and could be used to develop a forensic profile and possibly determine whether he was connected to the Burr case.
Coffman said the agency also had to check some items. There was a showcase with evidence from Bundy's process in her laboratory. Among the objects: tooth shapes of the teeth of Bundy and the wax impressions used to make them.
“After I was hung with her, I went back to our exhibition and looked at it,” Coffman recalled. “I said, 'There has to be something. DNA has now become so sensitive.'”
He decided to try out the forms of traces of saliva, but there were a number of fingerprints, so it was not a great test. At about the same time, the Florida agency discovered that the Columbia County Clerk office had found an original blood test from Bundy. It led to a complete forensic profile, with all 13 core markers used in tests against the DNA database.
A bulletin is sent to law enforcement authorities across the country when the DNA is uploaded. The Tacoma police are among those who are waiting. Detectives There is evidence of the state crime laboratory to determine whether there are still DNA 50 years later.
Bundy sexually attacked and killed several young women in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Florida between 1974 and 1978. He was sentenced to death in 1979 for murder of two college students in Florida and later for rape and murder of the 12-year-old girl in Columbia County.
