A Grand jury in Queens has charged an Astoria man for hate crimes and other indictment for allegedly impossible conception churches at Ditmar's Boulevard in a number of disturbing incidents in the past month, including the desue of a religious statue and an attack on a church.

Jose Rodriguez, 38, from the Shore Boulevard, was charged as hate crimes on Wednesday before the Supreme Court of Queens for burglary, attempted attacks and severe harassment.

According to the indictment and investigation, Jose Rodriguez, 38, drove a Citi bike from the Shore Boulevard to the Immaculate Conception Church in the 29th Street and at Ditmars Boulevard, at 1 p.m. on April 6, shortly after the end of the Sunday mass. When he arrived, he allegedly shook his hand by Rev. James Hughes before telling the priest that he should “die”.

Rodriguez then entered the church, went to the altar, where a woman had a statue of the child of Jesus, and supposedly put it out of her hands. The statue broke on the floor. He fled out of the scene and rode towards Astoria Park.

Rodriguez lives in the Marine Terrace Apartments north of the park, about a mile from the church.

According to the indictment, Rodriguez returned to the church at around 1 p.m. on April 9th ​​and entered behind the altar. Toni Cimino, judge of the Supreme Court of Queens, ordered Rodriguez to return to court on June 6th. When he was convicted of the upper count, Rodriguez is presented to a potential maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
