Hagglund's violation resigns FC Cincinnati in Atlanta

The most open offensive game that FC Cincinnati played this season led to his fourth loss of road of the Major League Soccer season and the defeat of one of his best defenders.

Cincy lost 4-2 against Atlanta United FC on Sunday evening, May 25th, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Cincy falls to 9-4-2 for the season for 29 points and leaves you a point behind Philadelphia for first place in the conference. Atlanta improved to 3-7-5 (14 points) when he got his first victory since March 29.

The goals of Miles Robinson and Dado Valenzuela in the second half were not enough when the home team scored a longer slump in the hits, scoring their first goals from 2025.

Cincinnati lost Nick Hagglund in 10 minutes after the game began. Hagglund collided with Atlanta star Emmanuel Latte Lath and seemed to throw the wind out of him before he was replaced by teenager Hadebe.

After the game, FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan said that Hagglund had suffered a broken rib and lung damage and brought it to a local hospital.

Cincy did not seem to be synchronous right after the injury. During the first possession of Atlanta after the injury, Miles Robinson committed a foul and gave Atlanta a free kick of around 25 meters.

Aleksey Miranchuk delivered a great ball in front of the goal, which Derrick Williams made up to date in the 15th minute for the first goal.

Five minutes later, Saba Lobjanidze, Atlanta Star Wing player, gave himself open space with unusual footwork and crossed a pass into the middle of the 18-yard box according to Ajani “Jay” Fortune, who started to do it with 2-0.

The goal went on video review when Fortunes recording went on the way to the back of the network between the legs of Emmanuel Latte Lath. Latte Lath was offside, but repetitions showed that the ball only missed to touch its legs, which would have waved the goal.

Latte Lath was not asked for a foul for the collision with Hagglund. No.

“Maybe it thrown away a bit, but only the way we received the first goal with a faulty pass and a bad mark on the SET piece,” said Noonan. “We lose this rhythm and then they triggered the dynamics they had.”

Atlanta had several golden opportunities at the end of the first half to extend the lead.

Latte Lath missed a renegade opportunity against FC Cincinnati keeper Roman Celentano. Celentano forced him wide and the striker only stormed on the left.

In the last two minutes of the interruption period, Atlanta had several chances with the ball near the network, but could not take a clean shot.

Cincy came out strongly after half -time. Atlanta had given 10 goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half this season.

Miles Robinson made it 11 and knocked three minutes in the second half of a corner chicken from Evander and was 2-1. It was his first goal since March last season.

In the next 12 minutes Evander and Luca Orellano fired a few lasers online. Brad Guzan, the 40-year-old keeper from Atlanta, achieved three large parades and seven for the game in this sequence.

Atlanta made it 3-1 of a corner chicken in the 67th minute. Miranchuk directed the ball from the corner kick near the right post and sent it to the opposite post, where Bartosz Slisz was wide open to type it for his first goal of the season.

Gerardo “Dado” Valenzuela scored his third goal of the season for Cincy four minutes later and slipped in the middle of the 18 -year -old to knock a cross from Lukas Engel. Evander was also attributed to a template for the play, which gave him his first two-assist game for Cincinnati.

Jamal Thiare in Atlanta scored a outlier late in added time to win the game for the home team, his second goal of 2025.

Noonan was satisfied with the team's offensive performance in the comeback efforts.

FC Cincinnati set up an MLS club record with 27 shots and a hit of season heights. Evander agreed to the club's MLS record with eight shots that played against San Jose von Luciano Acosta last season.

Valenzuela set career height with six shots, four at the finish line.

“Many good things in the second half,” he said. “They had a lot of good moments and I also had the feeling that we did it too. But four goals in the way we did, we have to be better. The defense of the increase was very strong, and that was not the case tonight.”

Cincy will host FC Dallas on Wednesday, May 28th, since Luciano Acosta will return his return to the TQL Stadium. Cincy then organizes on Saturday, May 31, at 7:30 p.m. at 7:30 p.m. This game is a reservations of a 1-0 win on April 12th.

Dallas (4-6-4) has 16 points after a 1-0 loss on Saturday in Seattle, 11th place in the Western conference. Acosta exposed itself from the game in Seattle after playing last Wednesday in the 16th round of 16 in the US Open Cup when the club was lost. Acosta has three goals for his new team in 2025.
