Montgomery crash with Semi Truck kills Jason Merrick from Oswego on Route 31, Caterpillar Drive: Police

Montgomery, Ill. (WLS) – One person died in the West suburbs on Wednesday, the Montgomery police said on Thursday morning.

Montgomery's police said that officials and Oswego fire brigade teams were responding to the crash of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive in Montgomery on Wednesday shortly after 5.15 p.m.

Jason Merrick from Oswego drove a black Nissan limousine to south on Route 31, the police said. A semi -truck driver drove north on Route 31 and tried to turn the west to the left onto the Caterpillar Drive, the police said.

The sedan hit the truck at the intersection, the police said. The truck driver tried to avoid the collision, but could not stop in time, the police said.

The limousine was held under the truck and Merrick was declared dead on site, the police said.

The streets in the area were closed for several hours, while the accident reconstruction team from Kane County (KCART) and Illinois State Police examined.

Illinois State Police, Kcart and Montgomery Police continue to examine.
