Vigil for honor of 4 girls who were killed in Central -illinois crash

Illinois State Police will update an update on one Crash in Downstate Chatham, IllinoisThis killed three children and a teenager in an after-school program at the beginning of this week.

The police did not state any details about what the update would contain. The crash has not yet been submitted.

The soldiers were called to the school camp on Monday at 3:20 p.m. after Ynot and after the school camp when a car was plowed into the east side of the building and hit several people outside before driving through driving and many on the inside. It finally broke through the opposite side of the building and stopped.

Four girls were killed: Ainsley Johnson, 8, by Chatham; Kathryn Corley, 7, by Chatham; Alma Buhnerkempe, 7, from Chatham; and Riley Britton, 18, from Springfield.

The driver was identified as a 44-year-old Marianne Akers from Chatham, the former employee of Illinois State Police and the local high school. From Thursday morning it was not in custody and the police did not say whether charges are pending.

Akers now works as an office assistant in the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Six other children were injured and one remained in a critical condition from Tuesday. Officials have not yet been updated about their recovery.

The Illinois State Police is expected to be updated at 1:30 p.m.
