Southeast Dixie Highway in Hobe Sound closed because of gas leaks

Hobe Sound – An area of ​​Southeast Dixie Highway, north of the Southeast Church Street, was closed in a mobile home park on the morning of May 1st due to a chlorine org leak.

The gas leak was in the Sea Breeze Mobile Manor in the 10800 block of the Southeast Federal Highway in Hobe Sound, said the spokesman for the sheriff Christine Christinek.

She said Southeast Dixie Highway was a back entrance to the neighborhood and the road would be closed in the area until the gas leak is cleaned.

According to Cory Pippin Cory Pippin, spokesman for Fire Rescue, the evacuations have been set up within a scope of 330 feet. He said 14 people were evacuated.

After the ventilation efforts, the area was opened again after 1 p.m. and people were able to return home.

According to Pippin, one person was brought to Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter with non -life -threatening injuries.

The call came around 10:54 a.m. and rescue units reacted to the Southeast Third Street and the Southeast Dixie Highway. On arrival, the crews found a 150-pound chlorine tank, which were rated as a precaution and two additional tanks nearby, Pippin said.

According to Pippin, Hazmat reacted, isolated the leak to a single tank and successfully removed the source. The chlorine gas mirror is monitored to ensure that the area is safe.
