Lakers vs. Timberwolves Scores, results: Minnesota sends LeBron James, Luka Dončić home in the first round

The Minnesota Timberwolves came to the second round of the NBA playoffs from 2025 after an impressive victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday evening. The Lakers are now excluded from the post-season and will ask a number of questions outside the season after not doing justice to the promise of a LeBron James-Luka Dončić couple as No. 3 seeds in the Western Conference.

The wolves were driven by an unlikely hero in the clincher when Big Man Rudy Gobert demolished the small ball positions that the Lakers played for the entire game. After Gobert only scored a total of 14 points in the first four games in the series, Gobert set 27 points and 24 rebounds -both career -playoff -highs -to decimate the Lakers.

Every time the Lakers made a boost, it seemed as if Gobert had received a massive offensive rebound and/or waste to take the dynamics.

The Timberwolves were able to win the game despite the gruesome 3-point shooting (7 for 47) and a player game by superstar Anthony Edwards (15 points in 5-to-19 shooting). They are now performing to play the winner of the Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets series, as they continue to march as No. 6 seeds through the playoffs.
