Gurgaon: The water supply in parts of the city was disrupted on Thursday after a pipeline was carried out with water Basai water treatment plant (WTP) developed a crack near Umang Bharadwaj Chowk.
The damaged pipeline with a diameter of 1,300 mm supplies the boosting station of the 16 sector, an important connection in the city's sales network. Gmda said.
The fracture impaired the supply of the tail-end areas such as Surya Vihar, Nathupur, Sikanderpur and DLF 2 and 3. GMDA officials confirmed that the repair work was used and completed immediately at 6 p.m.
The residents expressed frustration about recurring water problems in their colonies and societies. RWA President of Surya Vihar Rajesh Gera asks: “Should we suffer endlessly just because we live at the end of her supply network?” Representatives of the welfare group of the DLF City residents, DHRUV Bansal, said: “We received several symptoms from various blocks in DLF 2 and 3 due to the inconsistent water supply from GMDA.”
A GMDA officer said: “On Wednesday evening, a crack was identified in the main pipeline near Umang Bharadwaj Chowk. A partial shutdown was carried out in order to carry out the repair work.
The damaged pipeline is part of a larger network that delivers drinking water in central and eastern gaunt. It is a decades -old water infrastructure laid by Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran. In 2018 it was transferred to GMDA after the foundation of the metropolitan authority. GMDA officers said the line was susceptible to damage. “The pipeline, which was located years ago, is vulnerable due to aging and repeated stress,” said a GMDA officer.
The long -term exchange of the pipeline is in the works. “The replacement for pipeline was included in the renovation plan for Held Honda Chowk and Umang Bharadwaj Chowk. A provision in the project was made and the work will soon be started,” said the official.
Bansal said: “This is not a one -time incident, it is a regular event, especially in summer. The infrastructure is outdated and requires immediate upgrade to achieve the current occupancy.”
Gera, the RWA President of Surya Vihar, repeated the concern. “Our daily demand is around 6 LAKH liter, but we hardly receive 2 Lakh liter. Although the problem with GMDA was thrown several times, there was no solution. We spend lachs every month to arrange water. There has been no offer since the morning,” said Gera on Thursday.
The Basai WTP currently has a treatment capacity of 270 mLD and together with the work in Chandu Budhera, the city has access to a total number of the treated water capacity of 570 mLD. The fourth filtration unit of 100 mLD in Chandu Budhera is probably commissioned this month, which will increase the city's water supply to 670 mLD.
