Deputy shot at the Memorial Day in the service line of the service

Marengo, Ohio (Wxix/Gray News) – A member of Ohio was shot on duty on the commemoration day, according to civil servants.

Morrow County's office said 31-year-old Member of the Member Daniel Weston Sherner reacted to a home call in a house in Marengo, which is about 35 miles northeast of Columbus when he was shot.

The sheriff of Morrow County, John L. Hinton, said Sherer was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

“The topic was also shot and taken to a hospital in a serious condition,” the sheriff wrote on the department's Facebook page. “There are no words to express the pain that can be felt from our office.”

Sherner began working in the Sheriff office on May 16, 2021.

“My heart is torn down by the loss of another law enforcement officer in Ohio who paid the ultimate victim while we protect his community. We are committed to those who put their lives down for others,” said Yost Attorney General Yost in a press release.

The Sheriff County's office applied for the Sheriff office of the Delaware County and the BCI for support to examine the incident.

Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno called the murder of the deputy “devastating”.

“I keep the family of the deputy Daniel Sherner and the entire community in my prayer and I am grateful for our law enforcement officers all over Ohio,” he wrote in a post about X.

This is the second fatal shootout with law enforcement authorities to which BCI reacted overnight.

State agents were also called for Butler County in the southwest of Ohio, where the Middletown police shot a man when they arrived to search a house.

A second person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital with an uniform injury, according to the prosecutor.

Middletown is about halfway between Dayton and Cincinnati.
