Ex-Arsenal playmaker Tomáš Rosický from the hospital after unspecified heart problem

Associated Press

Prague (AP)-the former midfielder of Arsenal, Tomas Rosicky, was hospitalized last week in an intensive care unit due to an unspecified problem in connection with heart.

Sparta Prague said Rosický, his 44-year-old sports director, was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday and was released at the end of last week. No surgery was required and he recovered at home. The club said that he had delayed the announcement of the problem due to its seriousness.

“The good news is that I am expected to recover completely, although I am currently unable to fulfill the demanding responsibility of a sports director,” said Rosický in a statement.

Tomas Sivok, the former Czech Republic International and current manager of the Men team from Sparta, has taken over as Interim Sport Director.

Rosický was called “Little Mozart” for his game qualities and withdrew from the football game in 2017.

He started his professional career at Sparta, won the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and often spent 10 years with the Gunners and won the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.

He was also the undisputed leader of the Czech Republic in 105 caps.

Sparta expressed his full support for Rosický, who will remain in contact as a consultant.

Sparta fought this season and finished fourth in the Czech league. Trainer Lars Friis was released this month and a replacement is being sought.
