Glenn Maxwell excluded from the rest of the IPL season with finger injury

Punjab -kings suffered a considerable blow when Glenn Maxwell was excluded for the rest of the IPL season due to a broken finger. The Australian all -rounder suffered the injury to his right hand and was officially excluded from further participation in the tournament.

Maxwell has sounded a disappointing season with the bat and had only 48 runs in six games. In each of his last four innings, he could not be double -digit, a strong contrast to the explosive shape for which he is known.

His teammate and Australian Marcus Stoinis confirmed the news before Punjabs Match against Chennai Super Kings. “He didn't think it was bad, but it got pretty bad,” revealed Stoinis. “He had scans and yes, the results were not great. Unfortunately, for Maxi, I think he's probably traveling for the tournament.”

PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer also inspired the injury during the throw against CSK and explained: “It is very unfortunate that he has a broken finger. To be honest, we have not yet decided on the replacement, but we are quite confident that our team is the attitude of the way of thinking of our team and the depth we have with playing.

Despite his poor impact shape, Maxwell had contributed to the ball and took four gates with his useful off-spin this season. He was supposed to play a key role for PBKs in the run -up to the playoffs, but the team now has to rely on his bank strength or get a new signing.

This is the second setback for serious injuries for Punjab Kings this season. Previously, the New Zealand Pacer Lockie Ferguson was excluded just a few weeks after the tournament, whereby PBKs did not give a replacement at that time. However, head coach Ricky Ponting confirmed that the franchise is now actively considering replacement.

“At some point we will sign a few settings,” said Ponting. “We have until the 12th game, so we have a few more games ahead of you. With the squad we have, we first try to explore options within the team. [Bartlett] Could get back into the billing in which the ball could swing and jump more. “
