City Fort Wayne to celebrate the national historical preservation month with highlights of the community's efforts

Fort Wayne, Ind. (Wpta) – May is the national historical month of conservation.

To celebrate, the city of Fort Wayne emphasizes its efforts to maintain historical architecture, buildings, neighborhoods and districts of the community.

In 1965 the city of Fort Wayne was the first community in Indiana to take over a local conservation regulation.

Now the city's historical preservation commission is leading the matter.

“Fort Wayne has long committed to historical preservation in front of many other Indiana communities,” said the planner of the City of Fort Wayne Historic Preservation Commission, Creager Smith. “This commitment has invested and strengthened our many historical districts as well as historical trade and industrial buildings.”

“It has protected so many beautiful and unique places where people can explore, admire, occupy and enjoy.”

In the Community Development Division and the Historic Preservation Commission of the city, you will expressly emphasize the modern architecture of the community in the middle of the century.

During the entire May month, the planners of the Historical Preservation Commission will share stories and photos of the city's conservation efforts and the modern architecture of the middle of the century about the commitment of Fort Wayne.

According to city officials, the modern theme of the middle of the century will continue in June with a “Back to the Future: a modern insert from the middle of the century”, which will be held on June 7 by Indiana Landmarks. The tour will present five houses of that time in Fort Wayne.
