A month -old girl was killed early Tuesday morning after having been separated from the family dog ​​in an apartment in Queensbridge in Long Island City, the police said.

The officials of the 114th district in Astoria answered on May 27, shortly before 6:40 a.m., when the child's 27-year-old mother was called. The call led the police to the family's apartment in 41-01 12th St., where they found the baby that the baby was unconsciously and unexpectedly, with serious injuries on their face.

The medical emergency services arrived shortly afterwards and declared the child dead at the scene.

According to a law enforcement authorities familiar with the investigation, the baby had slept in bed between her mother and partner when the couple woke up to chew their German shepherd dolls on the child's face.

The Chief Medical Examiner office will determine the official cause of death. A NYPD spokesman confirmed that no arrests were made and the examination has not yet been completed.
