The Ruskin residents demand further stop signs after fatal crash has killed the family of 4

Ruskin, Florida – people who live along the Shell Point Road West in Ruskin want to act immediately after a car accident, who claimed the life of a family of four on Sunday evening.

Mark Larson only lives doors from Shell Point West and 32nd street NW crossing.

For years, his home trainer cameras have recorded film material from numerous incidents, including the fatal crash on Sunday evening.

“We tell you over and over and over again, there are car accidents here. The speed is exaggerated. You have to send the HCSO out. Slow people. They don't,” he said.

According to Larson, the car hit a rope box on Sunday evening before colliding with his neighbor's house and ultimately ending up in his own driveway.

HCSO identified the victims as Cynthia Wilson, her husband Richard and her two adult children Shannon and James Janus.

Her deaths renew Larson and his neighbors' demands after a three-way stop sign at the intersection.

“It is wide open. Everyone thinks is a drag strip and you can just fly here,” said Larson.

At the beginning of this year, Hillsborough County carried out a traffic study in which the average vehicle speeds were measured. The results showed that the drivers of the 32nd street NW were an average of 38 miles per hour, which exceeded the reported limit of 30 miles per hour, while the Shell Point Road had an average speed of 43 miles per hour against a 45 km / h limit. Despite the observation of the speed crossing and the serious concern of the residents, the district reported only three accidents at the intersection in the past five years and came to the conclusion that “further investigations were not justified”.

Larson replied to the district in an e -mail that he passed on to me.

“After repeated attempts and repeated requests from the residents of this neighborhood, their specific department and the county as a whole as a whole, they failed us seriously. Last night around 8:14 p.m. a 4 -4 clock family in my front yard died in a car accident, and this could have prevented them from just listening.

In a later examination of the potential to re -evaluate the intersection after the latest fatal incident, the district replied that it was waiting for an official report by the Hillsborough County in relation to the crash that will contribute to its ongoing assessment.

“I understand we are a large district, but when the residents scream for help, they have to listen,” said Larson. “Because it's not all the time, Wolf cries. No wolf cries. We have a problem here and it has to be fixed.”

Hillsborough County's office has not published any information about what led to the crash.
