The ex-NBA star Shawn Kemp avoids an attempt, and guilty plea occurs at the shopping center

Shawn Kemp, who spent most of his NBA career at Seattle Supersonics, entered a guilty plea in the shootings of 2023 in front of the Tacoma Mall in the state of Washington.

Pierce County's public prosecutor confirmed that Kemp had admitted an attack in the incident. The six-time NBA All-Star was initially exposed to the first degree with a firearm due to assault. The public prosecutor later took over a second count of the first degree attack and an indictment for drive-by shooting.

If he had been convicted of the original indictment, the 55-year-old could have violated a significantly longer prison sentence. The Tacoma police received a call in which shots in the Tacoma Mall parking lot were fired by a driver of a passer -by, Fox 13 reported in March 2023.

According to reports, the former NBA center claimed his car was stolen and he followed his iPhone in the Tacoma Mall.

A source near Kemp said when the retired NBA player approached the vehicle, a suspect shot on him and he shot back in self-defense. The police said nobody was injured in the shootout.

Two people in the car remain in police custody due to non -related charges.

The video of the incident was shared on social media. Some of the video recordings seemed to contradict Kemp's report on the events in question.

Kemp is still facing the possibility of prison. A second degree attack in Washington has a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $ 20,000. The conviction is planned for August 22nd.

Kemp played in the NBA from 1989 to 2003. He was a selection of the Supersonics in the first round and played for the team until the 1996/97 season. Seattle played Michael Jordan led by Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls lost in the NBA final of 1996 and in six games.

Kemp later played with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic. He ended his career with an average of 14.6 points per game as well as 8.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
