The man who was accused of having killed two people on the US Highway 80 in mesquite at the beginning of this week has not passed a field soberness test and, according to police, showed no concern about the victims.

Fatal mesquite -crash

The background story:

The fatal accident with three vehicles occurred on Tuesday evening on the HWY in Ostbound. 80 between the Gallaway Avenue and the Belt Line Road.

The police said that the drivers of an Audi SUV, a Toyota Rav4 and a Harley Davidson motorcycle collided.

The drivers of the Toyota and the motorcycle died at the scene. As a 64-year-old Mark Bryant from Dallas and 61-year-old Brian Robinson, they were identified by Mesquite.

The driver of the Audi, 46-year-old Kevin Jackson from Forney, was arrested in two cases of poisoning tank.

Gasification homicide

What we know:

According to Jackson's affidavit, the affidavit from the police announced that the Audi, before causing the crash, to accelerate and drive irregularly.

“Officer Ingram briefly spoke to 3 witnesses on site, who said that the driver of the Audi drove to the east with 80 to 90 miles per hour and drove other vehicles towards the east, and from traffic. Turned over the wall and took contact with the motorcycle, which at the time drove west,” says the document.

The officials found Jackson on the middle wall near his Audi and interviewed him about what had happened.

They reported that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Jackson first told the police that he tried to drive around a slower vehicle, but finally another vehicle hit another vehicle that slowed down when he changed lanes.

“During this time when Officer Carlson spoke to Jackson, he seemed carefree and unphasized. He did not seem to be aware of the big crash on the other side of the highway, although there were many rescue vehicles, the traffic, heating and waling and many officers and the EMS staff who run around,” says the affidavit.

Jackson told the officials that he had two glasses of wine just two hours before driving.

He was taken into custody after not passing several parts of a field soberness test.

Later, when he was interviewed at the police station, Jackson denied being involved in the fatal crash, and claimed that it had already occurred on the western side of the highway when he crashed.

“He explained that he had not killed anyone. Officer Carlson advised that there were several witnesses who placed him as a suspect driver and he continued. The interview was then completed, and Jackson was put in the prison cell,” says the affidavit.

What we don't know:

The affidavit states that Jackson's blood was legally drawn after his arrest. The results of this test have not yet been published.
