The university announces the death of the student Ian Hyun Kim

The university announced the death of Ian Hyun Kim, a second year at the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, who died unexpectedly overnight.

“Ian was a bright and thoughtful member of the community, and we would extend the Ians family and friends our warm condolence at this time enormous grief,” wrote Mary Pat McMahon, Vice Provost and Vice President of Student Affairs, and Gary Bennett, Dean of the Trinity College of Arts & Scisices, E -Mail on Thursday afternoon.

The cause of death has not yet been announced, but university administrators said that there were no signs of a foul.

According to the e -mail, Kim is reminded of many as “brilliant students, caring classmates and dear friend”.

“We will keep Ian and his loved ones in our thoughts with compassion and grace and encourage them to keep themselves tight in the community,” wrote McMahon and Bennett.

In an emergency, the students recommend calling the Duke police under 919-684-2444 or 911 if they call outside the campus.

For short-term support in mental health, students can contact either personally or by phone at 919-660-1000 advice and psychological services (caps). The students can also contact the caps for the care of After Hours by selecting option 2 after calling up the service.
