20 feet long shark in front of Block Island in Rhode Island discovered

Local news

Block Islander looked at a fin in a video that now offers millions of views through the water of the large salt pond.

There is a shark in the pond, and Newglainers sunbathe.

Just in time for the 50th anniversary of “Jaws” was discovered on Monday near Block Island, Rhode Island, a shark that USA TODAY Recently appointed as one of the 10 best summer destinations for 2025.

“There is a shark in the pond!” Someone called out a pronounced New England accent (was: “Shahk in the deposit”), and refer to the classic scene from the film from 1975.

Blockinsel dwellers were “spoiled with the scene” when a few fins were cut through the water of the large salt pond, as could be seen in a video of the Atlantic Shark Institute. The video was recorded by a diner at Dead Eye Dick's, a seafood restaurant with a view of the pond.

“Haie arrives in Rhode Island every day, while the water temperatures continue to rise and more and more Haispezies find them suitable for their taste,” wrote the institute on Facebook. “Hopefully this shark will soon find its way out of the large salt pond and go on the way!”

The non -profit organization joked how the sight of a scene from “Jaws” resembled and prompted the commentators to guess what it was. According to millions of views, thousands of comments and about 10 sharks, the organization predicted that it was a filter food mixer.

“You can look a bit like a big white shark at a glance or from a distance, and that can put people into a panic and rightly based on where you could be (think in the water!)” Jon Dodd, Executive of the Atlantic Shark Institute, wrote to Boston.com.

Börsen sharks are the second largest fish in the world, which is only beaten by the whale shark. Although you can reach a length of over 40 feet, the 20 foot, discovered in the Great Salzteich, was 20 feet long, said Dodd.

“The size of this sharks, the height of the dorsal fin and how they move can be a real attention catcher!” Dodd wrote.

As the organization had hoped, the animal seemed to leave the pond overnight and to continue according to Dodd.
