Driver was due to crash

Cleveland – The driver who was accused of killing the beloved former radio journalist Bill Safos in an accident last December was charged at the Cuyahoga Court of Common Pleas on Thursday morning.

The accused, Zachary Saliba, 29, from Lakewood, is charged with severe murder murder, a third degree crime.

According to court files, Saliba was not guilty, and his bond was set at 50,000 US dollars.

He has a pre -judicial hearing for May 15th in judge Brian Mooney's courtroom.

The crash

Safos was hit and killed on December 11th when he went near the intersection of the Hilliard Road and the Madison Avenue in Lakewood.

Saliba stayed at the scene after the crash and was later arrested.

According to Lakewood officials, “Saliba ruthlessly operated his vehicle at the time when he beat Safos. Video evidence showed that Saliba committed aggressive traffic offenses shortly before the beating of Safos.”

Since then, Safos' family has filed a lawsuit against Saliba.
