Matside Video review changes in Men's Wrestling proposed

The NCAA men's wrestling rule committee this week proposed changes to the Matside Video checking process for the 2025-26 season.

The committee recommended that the reviewer of third parties advise the referee on relevant information about the video review Challenge of a coach.

The reviewers of third-party providers are currently considering how the sequence is questioned without consultation with the MAT referee.

In addition, the members of the committee recommended that trainers can maintain their video challenge if obstacles are available in part of the challenged video tapes.

Trainers would also keep their challenge if the action in question is not within the video.

Currently, coaches would lose their challenge in these scenarios if the video is not determined to show undeniable evidence that the original call should be lifted.

Before you become official, all recommended rules must be approved by the NCAA's supervisory committee, with which the recommendations for the wrestling rules of men are to be discussed on June 10th.

“The committee believes that it is important to make calls right,” said Deral Brown, chairwoman and head coach of Herren Wrestling Rules, head coach at Newberry. “Context in these decisions is crucial. We believe that trainers should maintain their challenge if the entirety of the sequence cannot be assessed.”

Another proposal of the committee is that if the video review system fails during a dual meeting or in a mat in a tournament, the video check would not be used for the rest of this game. If the system cannot be corrected before completing the agreement in which the Video Review system failed, it would be suspended for the rest of the event by using the use.

The members of the committee recommended that you make your mouth for the competition, starting in the next season.

“There are clear science and research available to support the positive advantages of a mouth protection. After a thorough discussion, the committee came to the conclusion that the recommendation of mouth protection in the best interest of the health and security of our athletes,” said Brown.
