CSPD release Body Camera Feature material from April Shooting | Crimes and justice

The Colorado Springs Police Department published the body camerasal shots of a non -fatal shootout, which took place on April 13.

The police received a call about a disorder at 12:25 p.m. in which a group was involved in the 4900 block of the North Academy Boulevard.

In the Body Camera videos, the answering officer can be seen how a possible witness at 12:45 p.m. was thinking about the location of a woman who is involved in the disorder. The officer then looked at the woman and started driving closer.

Seconds later, the video contains the sound of a shot and the officer who calls the shootout. When the officer gets out of your car to answer, some more shots can be heard from the same direction. The official replied the fire before covering himself behind nearby parked vehicles.

The suspect fled on foot and the officer found a woman on the floor with a gunshot wound on the head. The victim was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.

Preliminary DNA evidence that was recovered from the scene by the Sheriff's Office of the El Paso County identified the suspect as Vonderrick Rayford (51) from Wisconsin.


CSPD publishes limited recordings of officer-affected shootings on Delta Drive

Rayford was killed two days later in Iowa at another shootout with officer. According to the IOWA police, Rayford reported that the fire of the Dallas County sheriff opened on a deputy after he was stopped due to speeding and was shot with several civil servants during the following patient situation.

The Colorado Springs Officer involved was identified as officer Rachael Botkin.

El Paso County's office continues to investigate violence. According to state law, the final investigation is sent to the fourth public prosecutor's office to determine whether the official was compliant with the law of Colorado.
