Top Studio Ghibli films that you should watch

Studio Ghibli Productions are my comfort films when I want to relax during a break. They are healthy, aesthetically appealing and simply great films that you can see in total. I also grew up with the studio Ghibli films, so these films bring me a feeling of nostalgia. Over the years in which I have viewed and re -looked at these iconic films, there are the ones I love and why you should watch them.

My neighbor Totoro (1998)

You have probably seen how this lovable, chubby gray creature hovers on the Internet. Totoro comes from the film My neighbor Totoro, Who discover the two main characters of the film and love them throughout the film. The film follows the story of two young girls, Satsuki and Mei, who had just moved to an old house in the country around the 1950s. They go on adventures to discover their new home and to privately friendly with spirit like Susuwatari and Totoro.

It definitely doesn't get old every time you adapt it. I have probably seen this film over ten times and it still hits the same. My neighbor Totoro A film is suitable for everyone with its healthy themes and sweet characters!

From above on Poppy Hill (2011)

From above on Poppy Hill Is one of my favorite films ever. As opposed to My neighbor Totoro, This film is more melancholy and anchored for a somewhat older audience. In 1963 it played in Yokohama with the history of the sixteen-year-old Umi Matsuzaki and Shun Kazama in their high school life. After they got to know each other in the newspaper club, Umi and Shun decide to join the efforts to renovate the Latin district, the clubhouse of their school, which should be demolished. Umi also discovers her father's death and life during the Korean War.

Not only the film and the plot is well written, but the soundtrack is my favorite from all Studio Ghibli films. In my opinion, it is definitely one of the overlooked studio -ghibli films, but I can only recommend it. If you love nostalgic films From above on Poppy Hill is the film for you.

Ponyo (2008)

Another spirited, heart -warming film, Ponyo tells the story of a young goldfish name Ponyo, who dreams of becoming a person. She meets Sosuke, a five -year -old boy with whom she friends. However, her transformation disturbs the balance of nature and leads to an adventure full of magic, friendship and the beauty of the ocean.

When I come back to this film, I love the aesthetics of the attitude of this film. If you are looking for a film that catches childhood tones, breathtaking animation and a touching story. Ponyo Is a must! Experience the magic of the sea and the joy of discovering in this film.

Spiritedly away (2001)

Spiritedly away is definitely another well -known film worldwide and it is worth the hype. How Ponyo, The aesthetics and the environment of this film are beautiful. The film follows Chihiro, a young girl who stumbles into a mysterious mind after her parents were transformed into pigs. To find a way home, Chihiro has to work in a magical bath house managed by a witch called Yubaba. On the way, she makes unforgettable friends, reveals hidden strength and begins on a journey of self -discovery.

Spiritedly away Would be a film that I would recommend to everyone. If you are looking for a film that combines breathtaking animation, deep symbolism and an enchanting adventure, Spiritedly away Is a must!

Howl's Moving Castle (2004)

Howl's Moving Castle Follow the story of Sophie, a young woman who is cursed by the witch of the waste, to become an old woman. She stumbles over the moving castle of the magician Howl, where she navigates through the fights of her new identity and the impending war in her kingdom. Sophie combines with the mysterious howling, a talking fire called Calcifer and Howl's Apprentice, Markl. My personal favorite is Markl's dog.

This film is full of WorldBuilding and characteristic figures, all of whom are wrapped in a warm story. Howl's Moving Castle is the perfect film for everyone who is looking for a fantastic adventure.

Grave of the fireflies (1988)

Devastating, heartbreaking and emotional, Grave of the fireflies Is a film that will leave you in tears in tears. In the last months of the Second World War, two orphans, Seita and his sister Setsuko are fighting to survive the difficulties of war. After Seita and Setsuko lost their mother in the robbery, they are hunger, isolation and the difficulties of staying alive in a destroyed country.

Be ready to be hit by several emotional trains when you watch Grave of the fireflies. With beautiful animations and storytelling, you will experience the resilience of two siblings if you navigate through the devastation of the war.
