Students at the high school in Moreno Valley.

A student at Vista del Lago High in the Moreno Valley was arrested on Thursday morning, May 1st, after bringing an Airsoft weapon to school, Riverside County's sheriff announced.

The sheriff department did not identify the school by name, but only at its location in the 15000 block of the Lasselle Street. The director of Vista del Lago, Matthew McCain, confirmed the incident in a message to the parents published on social media.

The deputies went on campus at 9:39 a.m. after they had received a report on a fight, said SGT. Vermaid Brito-Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the sheriff department. The MPs then learned that a student might have had a firearm.

Four videos that were turned from different perspectives and were posted in social media shows and security personnel who have tackled someone in one hallway.

The MPs turned out to be an airsoft weapon, said Brito-Gonzalez, a replica gun for small plastic projectile, often during sports games.

Paramedics treated the students in a fight for injuries before he was instructed in the youth hall for suspicion of the battery and had a subsequent weapon at school, said Brito-Gonzalez.

McCain said in his news that replica guns are not allowed on campus.

“We ask families to talk to their child (ren) what is appropriate to bring to a school campus,” wrote McCain.
