Pedestrian struck and killed by car in Waldorf

Waldorf, Md. – A person in a wheelchair was hit and killed in Waldorf by a vehicle on Thursday evening, May 1, 2025, which prompted a large emergency reaction and several 911 calls.

The crews arrived at the intersection of Old Washington Road and the trade zone court at around 8:17 p.m. Early reports from witnesses showed that a pedestrian in a wheelchair had been hit by a vehicle near the busy retail corridor.

A witness informed the dispatcher that they heard a loud crash when they went into the store, and initially believed that a cyclist might be involved. Others quickly asked to report the pedestrian in a wheelchair and seriously injured.

Emergency units were sent within minutes. The respondents of the Waldorf volunteer fire brigade and Charles County Ems arrived on site and confirmed the death. The victim's identity has not been published and the officials have not yet confirmed their age or gender.

The circumstances that lead to the crash are examined.

The intersection was temporarily closed, while officials documented the scene.
