The TrailNet -Crash report shows an increasing number of deaths for pedestrians in the StL region

St. Louis, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The annual report of Trailnet in St. Louis Street showed another record year for pedestrians deaths in the region.

The report published on Wednesday morning found that 23 pedestrians were killed in St. Louis City and 36 in St. Louis County.

Trailnet, which is committed to the safety of pedestrians, characterized the design of the streets of the St. Louis and a lack of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure as a “fatal combination”.

Cindy Mense, the organization CEO, said the results underline the need for further investments in traffic lawyers' designs throughout the city.

“We want people to understand that we can make it safer for all streets,” said Mense.

This year's report has also emphasized the possibilities of how some projects have led to better results in certain city corridors.

Mense pointed to a modotic design in the Natural Bridge Road and Parnell. The state had installed a concrete median and a roundabout in 2021 and reduced the road for a large part of the natural bridge corridor from four alleys to two.

As a result, the total number of car accidents has dropped by almost 80 percent in recent years.

Aaron will, who works on the truck supply company near the intersection, said that he had noticed the difference in the traffic speeds and a reduction in ruthless driving.

“It was unruly with the four lanes of cars. It slowed down the traffic and made it much safer,” he said.

Mense said that she believed that several current and upcoming projects in the city, such as the Tower Grove Connector between Cortex and Tower Grove Park, would continue to help reduce traffic collisions and pedestrian injuries.

“If you use this infrastructure, it makes it more careful when driving. It is effective,” said Mense.
