C-span honors Albert Lea Student Video Controller Winner

Albert Lea, Minn. (KTTC) -C-Span visited the Albert Lea High School on Wednesday, April 23, to celebrate and honor three of his students for their third prize for the prize in the annual student video control competition from C-Span.

This year, C -Span, the students of the middle and upper level asked to address the topic: “Your message to the president: What is the most important thing for you or your community?” C-span reported more than 1,700 entries, and almost 3,500 students from 42 states and Washington, DC, took part.

Bryant Johnston, Sam Stay and Benjamin Schulz were the three students of the Albert Lea High School, who took third place for the competition known as the “StudentCam”. The price contained 750 US dollars for its video entitled “Energy in America”.

C-span and spectrum representatives have all joined the community to recognize the three students at a meeting of classmates, teachers, family members and elected officers. C-Span also recognized the teacher of the students, Jim Haney, who acted as a student of Adviser of the students.

“Congratulations to all incredibly talented young students who won prizes in this year's competition!” Craig Mcandrew, director of educational relationships, said. “Through detailed research and interviews with a number of current and technical experts, you have created effective short stories that capture the problems with great public interest and importance. Your documentaries have set a very high bar for future StudentCam filmmakers, and you should be proud to know your work and promote your colleagues thoughtful considerations.

Spectrum even surprised the three students by doubling the prize money, which means that all three could leave with 500 US dollars each.
