The Marysville police chief announces the retirement and said that the officer's death “shook me to my core”

Marysville – The police chief of Marysville, Christian Sachs, announced that he withdraw from the role and said that the loss of the officer Osmar Rodarte “shaken me to my core”.

Rodarte was killed on March 26, while serving a search order, which was part of a multi -year examination of a transnational drug trade.

“The loss of one of our officers on duty shook me into my core, and in the following days I seriously thought about climbing away,” said Sachs in an e -mail. “Leadership positions such as police chief are responsible with an immense responsibility and an intensive examination from the department and the public that we serve. That is the type of role, and I accepted it when I took off my oath.”

Sachs said he proudly draws what he had achieved.

The city of Marysville did not give a precise date when retirement becomes effective, and only said that it is effective in May.

The announcement on Thursday will be announced weeks after he had accepted the administrative leave, citing a personnel matter.

Lieutenant Vance Nabeta became the reigning boss. It is unclear how long godfather will continue in this role.

Sachs was appointed interim policy in 2017 and sworn in the following year as police chief. It has served the department since 2001.
