SGT. Bill Hooser was honored at the annual monument for officers in Utah who were killed in service

May 5th has been killed in service for a year since SGT. Bill Hooser when he served at the Santaquin police department.

The annual memorial service took place in Utah Police Memorial on Thursday and honored 150 fallen civil servants, including SGT. Hooser in Utah State Capitol.

For somehow Hooser, the day was another step in a trip without the husband, with whom she shared 29 years of memories.

“Our youngest daughter married, and now we are expecting our first grandson. We all went through all the first to break us again,” said Arta Hooser, Hooser's wife.

She faced a lot and not only spoke for the job, but also for his family about his commitment.

“We grilled with our children on our back almost every summer. And it never took too long for one of the young Bill to challenge a Cornhole match. And these games were able to take hours. In retrospect, I gave everything I only have for this kind,” said Hooser.

Shari Hawkins says she somehow knows since she was young.

She says that she remembers the day she learned the news.

“I was sitting in my apartment and cried,” said Shari Hawkins, a friend of the family.

Governor Spencer Cox reminded the crowd of what Utah's law enforcement authorities have apart.

“We are grateful for your victim and your service, especially for those who pay the ultimate price,” said Governor Cox.

Almost a year later, Utah remembers SGT. Hooser not only remembered how he died, but also how he lived.

“What I would give to hear his laugh again. Bill was a friend for everyone and never missed an opportunity to help someone in need,” said Hooser.

The family members are grateful for the entire love and support of the community.
