Scottsdale Fire highlights a defensive space before the running fire season

Increased fire restrictions begin in parts of Arizona.

Tonto National Forest is now around Level two restrictions closer as a peak times -forest fire season.

So far, this year has been dry and firefighters say that this could lead to a busy summer.

Nicole Kreasean from Fox 10 was together with Scottsdale Fire Capt. Dave Folio to inspect the areas with the highest risk.

What you say:

The streets that you have undertaken for this inspection are the same streets on which you see “extreme fire risk” signs.

Scottsdale Fire says that this year it was not able to change the sign to a lower risk.

“I will drive these districts and search for overgrown brushes. I will search for conductor fuel who go into the house or in the attic. We can simply insert a door hanger, just hang a door hanger, photograph with our iPad and it records it here and it sends it to our fire inspection,” explains capt. Folio.

These inspections are of crucial importance after a dry winter, especially in areas with wind -driven fires.

Local perspective:

“We are literally at the ground zero of the Diamond Fire, where it started,” said Captain Folio. “This thing went in our east and northeast 2,000 acres.”

The Diamond Fire disintegrated in June 2023 near houses in the substructureUp to 400 houses in its climax.

The cause was ruled indefinitely, but Scottsdale Fire reported six built fires in 2023 and seven last year.

New builds are further displayed, also right next to the diamond fire.

“We just want to raise”

“These guys do not do hot work. They are currently in the frame stages, no cutting. But if they do it, they have already cleared it away, so we probably carried out an inspection there and they know and gave them a piece of paper and said: 'Here are our guidelines,” said capt. Folio.

Then additions come into play at home.

“What happens is that the built house that inspects is done, and then you have a general entrepreneur who comes and takes a new goal or welds a goal or brings a pool fence into a pool fence.

Brush trucks go to the neighborhoods to spread the message of fire security.

“So we identified this house, so you can see heavy fuels here. You have cleaned it up, it looks like you have spoken to it, but could easily jump into the house and approach the house directly,” said Captain Folio.

A gentle memory remains on the front door of the house and a new inspection is noted for later.

“We don't want to quote them or something. We just want to train and work with our community to be good partners,” said Capt. Folio.

What you can do:

Scottsdale Fire suggests starting with a five -foot -defensive space and then expanding from there.

The aim is to have 20 to 30 feet of reasonable space, which enables residents to have landscapes and privacy.
