Go your company correctly and the victories will follow. Keep it up and a large milestone can be within reach before you know.

That was the story for father son, coach and driver duo Ron and Brett Macdonald, who won landmarks in a six-day route in early April.

“He never mentioned much about the fact that he has reached 1,000 [wins]”, Said Brett from his father.” Then one day we looked at and both were 10 out of 1,000 and 2,000 away. “

Brett, which started his professional driving career at the age of 18, got the ball rolling when he was 2,000. Career winner, Pacer Saulsbrook Victor Pacer Saulsbrook, in race 10 at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel piloted 2½ length.

The 28-year-old Freelton, who found the circle of 5-year-old Mare Firstofanera in Flamboro Downs, in Flamboro Downs, in Flamboro Downs, the 28-year-old grabbar landed, who was Südwestkentucky Oval on 1,999 career.

The daughter of JK Endofanera – I was one of six trips in Flamboro this Sunday in Flamboro and the only winner for board.

Fortunately, the breakthrough moment was only put on hold for one day.

“It was very special to get it [Saulsbrook] Victor, “said Brett.” I thought I would get it in Flamboro that night. I had a few shots and came close to a few times, but then our own mare won the last race on the menu.

“The next night 'Victor' had pulled well and I thought he was the one I would get it with.”

A flood of congratulatory texts and telephone calls followed shortly, and also a dinner with dad, which trains both horses who are responsible for Bretts penultimate and milestone.

Saulsbrook Victor in particular was a revelation for board and Ron since they added it to their stable in autumn 2021.

“We bought him late in his 3-year year; he had never driven,” said Brett. “We had a bunch of this family, and that's why we decided to take a chance of taking it.

“He has only been a stroke of luck since then. Every time you try to help him, he always gives you ten times back. Everything you do to help him get better and better.”

During his four-year career, the determined son of Quelle of Pride-Bei Lanta Girl accumulated a 32-27-14 line with almost $ 715,000 starts.

It is an upward track that its owners could never have imagined.

“We always knew that he had speed and skills and other positive properties, but he could never put everything together early,” said Brett. “Then he got better and better.

“When we started to go with him, we would have agreed if he had been a good dummy application. But it is excellent that he turns out to be the horse he is today.”

Saulsbrook Victor opened countless doors for the father-son team, especially for Ron, who, according to the board, was able to explore exciting racing in Ontario and the USA.

“Since we started the competition together, the company has definitely grown,” said Brett. “Dad went away with Victor. He could never have spent time in the United States and could do something like that with him.

“I would say that growth is more about the possibilities that Victor gave us. Not so much he and me, but the possibilities that a horse like Victor can give them.”

While the valuable bay was not directly involved in Ron's big night, board was.

Less than a week after his son had tracked down his milestone, Ron secured his moment in the spotlight in Flamboro on April 13th.

Ron went 8, 0: 3 at night in races and sent 3-year-old Stutfohlen Momas on a role with a board at the top.

The pacer from Big Jim in Post 7 drove with a perfect pocket trip before going up inside to clear through a head for Ron's 1,000TH win.

“It was exciting to get it about the same time,” said Brett. “That was something special.”

The outstanding presentation was the latest in a long series of impressive excursions by ron-trained racing drivers.

The Elder Macdonald put together a career year in 2024 and collected more than 858,000 US dollars in prize money. His 74 winners only took second place to his total of 80 years.

Last season, Ron's first -class result of 700,000 US dollars.

The 57-year-old conditioner also showed no signs of slowing down in 2025. Through 129 starts this season, Ron trained his charges of 20-17-11 for the north of $ 235,000.

His specialist knowledge on and off the route was valuable for Brett, whose recent success brought him the status of the well -known name in the Ontario racing route.

Overall, the winner of 1,391 races and counts has remembered the words of wisdom that his father offered as a neophyte driver in his years as a neophyte driver since 2020, including one career best with 328 winnings in 2022.

“When I started driving, he told me:” Just drive them to checks and win, “said Brett.” This is the greatest advice he has ever given. With horses who had taken in a little longer, they drive them for checks and then they will win a lot and you will win.

“It is different if you drive favorites, but at the time when I got my driver's license for the first time, I didn't drive many favorites. That was the advice he gave me. Just take your time.”

His father's words have now proven when their profit in gold and victories wins over 2,000.

After the board celebrated his first thousand on August 9, 2021, he found the chase for the next thousand even more pleasant to realize a significant milestone.

“My natural goal is to win as many races as possible, and then try to reach a milestone over it,” said Brett. “There was a feeling of relief when it was done, but it was also fun to lead.

“I didn't do anything else in advance, but it definitely felt good than I got it. The next 1,000 ran much faster than the first 1,000.”

While it is still too early to determine whether the third 1,000 fly even faster than the second, one thing is certain that board is ready to find out.

“I don't intend to slow down,” he said. “We will continue to rock and try to win as many races as possible.”
