Metal band guitarist identified as a man who was killed in South San Francisco Police Shootout

A man who was fatally shot by the police in South San Francisco at the beginning of this week was identified as a former guitarist for a Death Metal band in the Bay Area.

According to the officers, 60-year-old Brian Joseph Montana died in the incident. This took place on Monday on the 300 block of the Arroyo Drive.

The police said they were called to the area after a disturbance in which Montana swung a firearm against a neighbor. After the officials had arrived, the man was seen as he was shot into a house that was occupied before moving into an entrance and hiding behind several parked vehicles.

Montana then escaped with a shootout with officers.

“In the next 25 minutes, the suspect armed himself with three different types of firearms (handgun, shotgun and rifle) and fired on officials from different locations within the entrance,” said the police in a statement.

The officials used their vehicles as cover and returned fire and beat Montana. Lifelong measures were carried out and medical staff called, but Montana succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

A person in the house did not suffer life -threatening injuries. No police officers were injured.

Montana was the original guitarist of the band founded in the Bay Area, which was founded in the Bay Area in the early 1980s and was considered a pioneer in the genre.

The band recognized Montana's death with a story on its Facebook page.

The police said in a statement that the two officials who fired their weapons were transferred to the paid administrative leave per protocol.
