The most prestigious weekend in horse racing begins in May.

While the main event in Churchill Downs on Saturday is the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Oaks remains one of the best races of the year. It is preceded by the derby and takes place on the same route on Friday.

The Oaks is an annual competition for 3-year-old Stut foals and this year's class is a strong group. God cheer is the favorite that enters the race (6-5), followed by La Cara (6-1) and Quietside (8-1).

Good cheers, trained by Brad H. Cox, is unbeaten in six career races. She will try to become the first unbeaten stut foal that has gained the Kentucky Oaks since 2021.
