7 killed on the US Highway 20 at Idaho Crash

Fremont County, May 1, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) – Seven people were killed on Thursday evening in a fiery crash in Idaho.

According to a press release from the Idaho State Police (ISP), the soldiers in the US highway 20 in Ostbound in the Milepost 399 near Henry's Lake were called shortly before 7:15 p.m.

“The preliminary investigation shows that the collision included a Dodge Ram pickup and a Mercedes passenger -van, who both caught fire after the crash. The van reported reported a tour group,” says the press release of the ISP.

“Tragically, seven people died because of the crash. Six were inmates of the van and the driver of the pickup. The van had 14 inmates.”

A number that were evacuated by the injured by medical helicopters while others were transported by flooring. The victims' names were held back until the family members were notified.

The US Highway 20 should remain closed all evening, while first aiders examine the incident.

It was unclear when the highway would be reopened.

“ISP heads the investigation with the support of local and regional partners,” said the ISP.

The cause of the crash remains examined.
