China woman shares “reservoir Guardian” work videos, Sparks lively discussions, envy online

A young Chinese woman triggered widespread discussions on social media after shared her unique final function after the university as a “reservoir Guardian” in a remote area.

At the age of only 21, OU began her trip in a reservoir in Xintian County, Yongzhou, which is located shortly after the end of last year in the Hunanian province of Central China.

OU often updates your social media account and shows your daily responsibilities, including the patrol of the reservoir, monitoring the water level and the implementation of essential maintenance tasks.

“I studied water preservation at the university and I selected this position for its stability, and because it matches my personality,” she said with the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald. “Since I arrived here last year, I have found that my expectations have been met. The environment is breathtaking and the connection to nature is incredible. As someone who loves mountains and water, this role gives me peace and a sense of belonging.”

However, the transition to a remote job was initially a challenge for her parents. “At first they were concerned and worried about my security in such a remote area. But my passion for the job was gradually convincing,” she said.

Although she grew up in the city, OU has found fulfillment in her new environment and hugged the lifestyle of the remote area. “Tomorrow are wrapped in fog, and evenings offer breathtaking sunsets. The landscape around the reservoir is transformed with the seasons, and so I discovered a deep feeling of inner calm.”
