Cade Cunningham, pistons know future bright even after the defeat

Detroit-Cade Cunningham could not shake the immediate feeling of the “disappointment” after the game 6 playoffs at the end of the series at the end of the series against the New York Knicks.

After the Detroit Pistons Star and the organization as a whole had given a 14-68 season in 2023-24, they found comfort after a turnaround with 44 victories, one of the biggest in the history of the league.

“We felt good in this series,” said Cunningham, who ended with 23 points, 8 templates and 7 rebounds with a loss of 116-113. “So it hurts, so it hurts, but this feeling will stay in our workouts, conversations and everything with us all summer.

“We will be back and better.”

Detroit made this playoff series in the first round before he fell briefly when Jalen Brunson's winner sealed 3-pointer for New York with 4.3 seconds on Thursday evening. His crossover dribble between his legs created space against the Piston's Guard Ausar Thompson and allowed Brunson to get a clean look. Then he blew a kiss to calm the merciless crowd in the Little Caesar Arena, which boosted all series.

Thompson said he would learn from experience and how the pistons, like the pistons, also shaped the series in defeat.

“This guy was difficult to play. He is a great time,” said Brunson about Thompson. “And I told him after the series directly in the face, he made me work. I have a lot of respect for him.”

In the second quarter, the pistons were up to 15 points before they achieved a half-time lead of 61: 59 after a 3-point shuffle from Malik Beasley. During the fourth quarter, the pistons transformed an 11-point deficit into a seven-point edge with a 20: 2 run, but could not close the Knicks, who reacted with an 11: 1 run to close the game.

The Pistons have now lost 10 games in the next home playoffs, the longest series in the NBA history history. But they said there was a lot from their first playoff series since 2018-19.

“Nobody believed in us. It was literally Detroit against everyone,” said Beasley, who scored 18 points to six 3 points. “Even in the playoffs we continued to fight for each other and have the back of the other and lived with the results. As I said, it is shit, but I think we gave ourselves a chance and we just didn't get through.”

Piston's coach JB Bickerstaff said that he had the feeling that he was part of this group gave him a “renewed sense of the purpose in this profession” when he saw how she revived the fan base.

“It's a great experience,” he said. “You don't get a playoff experience until you receive playoff experience, but I thought the boys had from moment to moment, game to game and try to find out how to affect profit.”

Cunningham put together an impressive playoff debut. He came to Luka Doncic (2020) and Oscar Robertson (1962) as the only player for an average of 25 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in their first playoff series in NBA history via ESPN research.

He said he was the proud of the jump he made as a moderator and teammate to run the team.

“We have proven that what we have in the room works and can be very successful in the NBA,” he said. “At the same time we have proven that it was also the case for the rest of the league that it will be a dog construction when playing Detroit and that you have to play the entire 48, and if you get up early, we will give our way back into the game and win a shot every evening to win every evening.

Piston's owner Tom Gores held a spontaneous press conference before game 6, and while he said he expected the team to cut off well this season, he admitted that he did not believe that it would do it well.

While he is happy, the future in Detroit looks intact with a strong foundation.

“It is so impressive how they could get through adversity. I don't get much inspired, I am really inspired by them,” said Gores. “You inspired the city. I did everything I could for this city. We buy hospitals, we try that it is in order for children. We do all the things we do. I have never upset the city before this team has appeared, and they only show them on the floor.

“I am sure that many people will still not predict us that we will come somewhere, but we are here.”
