Red Sox Loss spoils the start of Tanner Houck when Walker Beuehler affects injuries

Toronto-in the second night in a row, the Boston Red Sox received a great performance from her starting jug to observe how the bullpen left a lead late, which led to a further loss of colon against the Blue Jay's from Toronto in Toronto.

On Thursday, Tanner Houck made his best start to the season and maybe his best start since the first half of the last year, but a malfunction from Wilyer Abreu in the eighth inning and a missed location on a curve ball from reliever Justin Slaten converted a 2-1 lead from Red Sox for a 4-2 loss in minute.

Last night the JAYS won in walk-off fashion after the Red Sox had wasted an outstanding debut by Lucas Giolito when the JAYS made a comeback against Garrett Whitlock before slat loss. It was a disappointing two nights for the normally reliable back end of the Red Sox.

“This is part of the baseball, isn't it? We have two of our best relievers on the hill and it didn't happen,” said manager Alex Cora. “I am satisfied with Tanner's excursion. He did an excellent job. But we didn't finish the game.”

In more than seven strong innings, Houck allowed a run with four goals with six strikeouts and did not give a walk. He threw 86 parking spaces, 62 for strikes and registered 11 fluctuations and failures. On the trip he had the best speed of his career and landed at 97.5 miles per hour.

“Felt better, especially with the delivery,” said Houck, who came into play in the first six starts with a 7.58 ERA. “Since I am a hypermobil type, I really have to stay in touch and go out with the delivery in line with the delivery and execute pitches and performed as (Catcher Carlos Narváez), and I worked really well today and went through all the way.”

In the first six innings, Houck stood over the minimum with two batteries before he got into a little difficulty in the seventh. Daulton Varsho put a one-out solo homer directly into the poles in the left field to cut Boston's lead to 2-1. After Houck triggered an Alejandro Kirk floor, he met Addison Barger and Red Sox for a hill meeting before Houck strapped up and got alan Roden to end the inner.

He handed over the game in Slaten in the eighth, but for the second night in a row. Slaten allowed Nathan Lukes a one-out single, before Abreu, a golden, right field player, played a deep fly ball from the bat from Bo Bichette. Areu was turned over in the game and fell, which led to a Bichette double that brought two runners into the goal position.

“It was a routine,” said Abreu by the interpreter Carlos Villoria-Benetiz. “It was a bad reading on my side. There is nothing else I can say.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smashed a Homer with three runs from Slaten on a 3-2 curve ball to turn the script around the game and converted the 2-1 lead into a 4: 2 deficit.

“Super frustrating,” said Slaten. “There are nights in a row when I felt that my things were as good as in my life. I just didn't do two strikes. It depends.

Outside of Alex Bregman's two-run double with the bases invited in the fifth, the Red Sox offensive was switched off again for a large part of the game against Toronto starter José Berríos. In total, the Red Sox struck 10 times and are now 5-13 in games in which they had 10 strikes or more. They are 12-3 in games with less than 10 punchouts.

The disappointing loss was not the only worrying development for the Red Sox when they return to Boston after their 3: 3 trip.

Before the game, Cora said Starter Walker Buehler did not come back well from his start last weekend in Cleveland and returned to Boston to test his shoulder.

Although Cora later played down the tests as precaution and the injury, the club in the Pregame radio broadcast from Wei was not excessive, but it is still a worrying development for a pitcher who had Tommy John operation in 2023 and the beginning of 2024 as a rehabilitation bed.

The results of Buehler's tests had not returned until the end of the game, and Cora was not sure whether Buehler would need time on the injured list. At the moment Brayan Bello was moved to Friday, with Garrett Crochet starting on Sunday. The starter on Saturday is to be determined.

When Buehler lands on the IL, Hunter Dobbins will probably be called back from Triple-A Worcester. Richard Fitts, which was on the IL with a breast load, still only throws on a flat floor on a flat floor.

If Buehler avoids an IL stint and instead only skipped a rotation in the rotation, the Red Sox can use a Bullpen game on Saturday, with Sean newcomb stretched out to start. Dobbins did not start his planned start for Wedner on Wednesday if it is needed this weekend.

In the meantime, Kristian Campbell was planned in midfield on Thursday in midfield, but a late scratch of scratches with a right rib complaints. Cora said after the game played from day by day after the discomfort was stretched before the game. The team decided to be on the safe side and keep it out of the line -up.

Regardless of this, both developments were concerned about another frustrating night for the Red Sox.
