What Samsung has to do with the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority

On the street it is known that Samsung has some new smartwatches around the corner and that there are excellent news for Galaxy Watch Classic fans. Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra last year instead of a new classic, but a recently mentioned Bluetooth certification, in which the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is strongly mentioned, indicates that Samsung's classic smartwatch series from Samsung will return in 2025.

As a classic fan of Galaxy Watch itself, I couldn't be happier. I liked the Galaxy Watch Ultra a lot, but the lack of the classic last year was disappointing. So I am also excited for the return of the classic, I am a little worried that Samsung may not contain any of my favorite functions.

Would you buy the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic if it has no rotating bezel?

The meaning of the rotating bezel

The Galaxy Watch Ultra was a great risk for Samsung, and it paid off in many ways. I personally loved the Squircle design and the large housing size. The battery life was great, the LTE connectivity was a nice gesture by default, and the new action button (as it may be) was comfortable.

Unfortunately, the Ultra also missed one of my favorite galaxy watch features: the rotating bezel. The rotating bezel has been a staple from Samsung Wearables since the start of the Gear S2 in 2015. To have this physical input method to scroll through menus, notifications, apps, etc. is an incredible function – and simply one of the best things on every Samsung smartwatch.

While the absence of the rotating bezel on the Galaxy Watch Ultra was not a deal breaker, it was something that I regularly noticed (and missed) whenever I used the clock. It is fine However, if you rely on the touchscreen for the navigation, there are cases in which turning the bezel is objectively better.

When I'm on the go, I would rather move a rotating bezel to carry out my training data instead of pushing my sweaty finger over the touchscreen. If I make dishes and want to read a notification, the use of the bezel is very preferred as if I get water and soby foam on the display.

In addition to these functional applications, there is only something fun on the rotating bezel. It is such a unique input method that you don't see at any other form factor, and it helps to blur this limit between a smartwatch and a legitimate watch.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic has to bring it back

We didn't belong much about the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic about its specifications, functions, the design, the price, etc. It is easy to Davone that the rotating bezel will return, especially when you consider that Samsung has never started a classic smartwatch without the function. But we also expected the Galaxy Watch Ultra to have a rotating bezel before its publication, and as we now know, it didn't happen.

Samsung has created a precedent in which his first-class smartwatch model does not contain any rotating bezel. In fact, none of Samsung's smartwatches had one last year. Not the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 7 or Galaxy Watch Fe.

Part of me would like to believe that Samsung would start the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic without anything so critical for his identity. But when I look back at the Galaxy Watch family last year, there is a doubt. Samsung got away with the sale of the Galaxy Watch Ultra without rotating bezel for 650 US dollars. What should the company keep from a (probably) cheaper Galaxy Watch 8 Classic without starting you? I don't want this to be the case, but I wouldn't be shocked either if that happens.

A smartwatch has much more than whether you can navigate with its bezel through the user interface or not, but it is a large part of the Samsung smartwatch. For this reason, the equipment S2 has emerged all the years ago, and watches like the Galaxy Watch 7 are kept fresh and unique in the modern smartwatch landscape.

Bringing back the rotating bezel for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is the obvious result, and it is the one I ultimately think. I just hope that Samsung agrees.
