Mayfield and Jones are organizing the meeting of the community -neighborhood observation in the middle of the recent crime concerns

Vicksburg, Miss. (VDN) -The Alderman TJ Mayfield and the chief of police of Vicksburg, Penny Jones, will be organized on Monday, May 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the South Street Shoppette, the city's first community meeting meeting.

“This community has recently experienced a disturbing pattern of shots, drug activities, drive-by shootings and other dangerous activities,” said Jones. “We want the residents to know that they are not alone. We are involved in the safety in the neighborhood with a stronger enforcement and a new focus.”

As part of her reaction, Jones said that surveillance cameras will be installed in the region in order to improve public security and to support ongoing investigations.

“This event is not just about law enforcement authorities – it's about connection,” said Jones. “We ask the residents to get out, ask questions and feel able to feel part of the solution. If the neighbors stand together and communicate, we create safer and stronger communities.”

Mayfield added that the security and well -being of our community was not negotiable, which the initiative calls an important step.

“I feel honored to stand next to Chief Penny Jones while we bring this neighborhood clock to South Street,” said Mayfield. “This initiative is an essential step towards promoting the accountability, to increase vigilance and the structure of direct communication between our residents and the law enforcement authorities. We have to confront the challenges in our neighborhoods on purpose and determination.”

Jones said the meeting of the neighborhood of the municipality in South Street was only at the beginning. Similar events for other parts of the city.

The event is free of charge and accessible to the public. The South Street Shoppette is located in the 1318 South St.
